Important Information From Second Grade
Mrs. Page Room 124

School Fees: The school fee for the 2009-2010 school year is: $71.35. You may pay your child’s fees on-line using EZ Pay. This is available using the district’s web-site. However, if you would like to write a check, make it payable to Five Points East Elementary. You can find a breakdown of this fee on www.springboro.org. Click on “Our Schools” and then the Five Points East link. Please send this payment in as soon as possible.

Forms: Please make sure all forms are turned in by the end of this week. The emergency medical form is the most important form needed here for your child.

Lunch: $10.75 buys 5 lunches ($2.15 per day). Milk can be bought separately for $0.50. As with the school fees, you may take care of this on-line through EZ Pay by depositing money into your child’s account. If you choose to send in money or a check, please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name, your child’s account number and my name listed on the front. This will ensure that the money gets deposited into the correct account. If you choose to send in cask or a check, I recommend making at least “weekly” deposits so that your child has money in his or her account. Please review your child’s account number. This is the same number your child had in first grade. If you need further information please let me know.

The School Day: School begins at 9:10 a.m. This is when the tardy bell will ring. Any student who comes in the building after the tardy bell must stop in at the office to receive a late pass. Students are allowed in the building at 9:05 a.m. Walkers will be dismissed at 3:50 p.m. and bus riders will be dismissed at 3:55 p.m. It is CRITICAL that you send a note if there is ANY change in dismissal routine. If I do not have a note stating your child is a walker or is to ride home on a different bus, I have to put your child on his or her regular bus. It is school policy. If you plan to pick up your child each day from school, you may write a note stating this is your wish for the entire year.

Absences: Please call the school at 748-6090 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. if your child is going to miss school. Please send a note with your child upon his or her return stating the reason of absence even if you called the school.

Early Dismissal: Please send a note with your child indicating the need for an early dismissal. When you come to pick up your child, go to the office to sign him or her out. The office will then call the classroom and your child will meet you in the office.

Recess: We will go outside when the temperature is 32 degrees and above. Please dress your child for the weather.

Book Orders: Please make checks payable to Scholastic Book Club.

Volunteers: I welcome volunteers! I use volunteers to copy papers, prepare materials, and work with students. Volunteering will begin in the middle of September. I will contact you to let you know more.

Bus Numbers: Please make sure your child knows his or her bus number.

Communication: Please check your child’s take-home folder daily. On Fridays I send home Mrs. Page’s Post Card. This gives you important information for the following week ahead. The spelling words for the next week are also listed on this form. Please know that I check my e-mail regularly. So if you ever need to contact me my address is: tpage@springboro.org or call me at school. The phone number is 748-6090 extension 5124. I will also be more than happy to meet with you anytime during the year. We can set up a time during the students’ special time to conference or over the telephone. I am always here for any need or question that you have with your child.

Disposable Camera: Please send in a disposable camera for your child to use throughout the school year. Your child will be taking pictures of special activities and events that occur. At the end of the year the pictures will be developed and your child will make a special second grade memory album. Please send a camera in as soon as possible.

Special Schedule:
Monday – Gym
Tuesday – Music
Wednesday – Art
Thursday – Music
Friday – Computer Lab and Library

Classroom Parties: We will have a Halloween parade on October 31st. The parade will begin at 2:45 p.m. and will be immediately followed by classroom parties. A Thanksgiving “feast” may be planned to reflect the historical significance of the event. It should last no more than one hour. On the last day of school in December a one hour party will be held at the end of the day. For Valentine’s Day thirty minutes at the end of the day can be held to exchange cards and a treat.

Treats: Holiday party treats and birthday party treats may be sent to school. The school has asked that parents of children with food allergies send in a sufficient amount of safe treats to be stored in the room for the year. These safe treats will be eaten during any party when food is served. Please note and be sensitive to the fact that we do have a food allergy to eggs in our classroom.

Thank you for all of support! I’m looking forward to getting to know each one of you and your families.

Respectfully yours,
Tiffany Page
